Frequently Asked Questions

My child has frequent nosebleeds. Should I be worried?

In most cases, frequent nosebleeds in kids are not serious. They are often caused by dry air, nose picking, frequent colds or allergies, etc.

However, you should consult an ENT specialist if:

  • The nosebleeds are heavy or hard to stop
  • They happen often, especially without a clear reason
  • Your child also bruises easily or has other bleeding issues
  • The bleeding is only from one side every time

Evaluation by an ENT specialist can help find and treat the cause.

Is it okay to stop antibiotics once I feel better?

No, it’s important to complete the full course of antibiotics as prescribed, even if you feel better in a couple of days. Stopping early can allow the infection to come back and may lead to antibiotic resistance, making future infections harder to treat.

I have vertigo/dizziness. Which doctor should I see?

Vertigo refers to a sensation of spinning or motion. It can be caused by problems related to the inner ear, brain (neurological), or even heart and blood pressure (cardiovascular issues).

  • If the vertigo is sudden and severe, or accompanied by other symptoms such as a severe headache, vision disturbances, loss of consciousness, slurred speech etc, visit the emergency room of the closest hospital immediately.
  • If your symptoms are mild or episodic, or have been happening for a while, it’s best to start with an evaluation by an ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) specialist.
How long do vestibular rehab exercises take to work?

Dr. Deepika Dixit usually sees improvement in 2–3 weeks, depending on the condition and patient compliance.
