Coronary angiogram: To visualize coronary arteries for blockages or abnormalities causing chest pain or suspected heart disease.
Angioplasty (PTCA and Stent): To open narrowed arteries and improve blood flow, reducing symptoms of angina or preventing heart attacks.
Primary Angioplasty: Emergency procedure during a heart attack to rapidly restore blood flow in blocked coronary arteries.
Complex PTCA (bifurcation stenting and left main interventions): To treat intricate blockages involving artery branches or major arteries, ensuring comprehensive blood flow restoration.
Imaging in Coronary (Intravascular Ultrasound): To assess the artery's interior for precise placement of stents and to evaluate plaque characteristics.
Coronary physiology studies (FFR and IFR): To determine the significance of blood flow restrictions and guide the need for intervention.
Mechanical circulatory support (Intra-aortic balloon pumps): To assist the heart in severe cases of heart failure or cardiogenic shock to improve blood circulation.
Adult and Pediatric echocardiogram: To evaluate heart structure and function in both adult and pediatric patients, aiding in diagnosis of various cardiac conditions.
Management of Cardiogenic Shock: To stabilize patients with life-threatening heart failure and poor blood circulation, preventing organ damage.
Management of Cardiac Arrhythmias: To diagnose and treat irregular heartbeats, ensuring proper heart rhythm and reducing risks like stroke or sudden death.
Advanced Cardiac Imaging: To obtain detailed images of the heart for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning of complex cardiac conditions.
Procedure Highlights
Renal artery stenting is a minimally invasive angioplasty procedure used to widen a narrowed renal artery (the blood vessel supplying the kidney) with the help of a small mesh tube called a stent. Dr. Abhishek Golla successfully performed this procedure in a case of severe right renal artery stenosis, with the visuals below showing the artery before and after stent placement.

The Role of Advanced Imaging in Heart Disease Diagnosis and Treatment: A Doctor’s Perspective
IVUS uses ultrasound within the blood vessels to see the inside of arteries, helping us accurately assess plaque burden and optimal stent placement, improving outcomes.
We use advanced imaging and techniques like wire guidance and double stenting to treat bifurcation lesions effectively, carefully ensuring both branches are adequately opened and blood flow restored.
It’s advised within the first few hours of a heart attack (STEMI) to rapidly open the blocked artery and restore blood flow, minimizing heart muscle damage.
Balloon angioplasty involves inflating a balloon to open the artery, while a stent is a tiny mesh tube placed afterwards to keep the artery open, reducing the risk of re-narrowing.
Angioplasty involves threading a catheter through the blood vessels to the blocked artery, then inflating a balloon to widen it, often placing a stent. It’s a highly safe and effective procedure when performed by experienced specialists.
Adopting a healthy diet, engaging in regular exercise, quitting smoking, controlling blood pressure and diabetes, managing stress, and maintaining a healthy weight significantly reduce your risk.
A coronary angiogram is recommended if you have persistent chest pain, abnormal stress tests, or high risk factors indicating blocked arteries. It helps visualize the coronary arteries directly to guide treatment.
Common symptoms include chest pain or discomfort (angina), shortness of breath, fatigue, sweating, and sometimes pain radiating to the jaw or arm. However, many people may have silent disease without symptoms, especially in early stages.
