Steps;
The skin prick test is a process in which a suspected allergen is placed as a drop, on the skin and then a small prick is made on the drop only penetrating the layer of the skin.
The lancet tip that is used for pricking penetrates 1mm and is usually not painful; a skin prick test is typically less painful, than a mosquito bite.
After the examination the patient must wait for 15 minutes before the results are interpreted.
If a test shows a reaction, to an allergen with swelling of a millimeters and the swelling is at least 3 millimeters larger, than the control saline injection sites swelling size; it indicates that the patient is sensitized to that specific allergen.

The patient should steer clear of medications such, as antihistamines and antipsychotics. It's also important to avoid cough syrups that are commonly found in stores.
