Allergy and Asthma: The Clinical Identity of My Practice
Allergy and asthma are the conditions I see most frequently and to which I have dedicated the most specific postgraduate training. Many patients arrive having lived with poorly controlled asthma, chronic allergic rhinitis, food or drug allergies, or recurrent anaphylaxis without ever having had a comprehensive allergy evaluation. My approach to allergy assessment includes a detailed history to identify triggers, appropriate allergy testing through skin prick tests, blood tests, or patch tests, and where indicated, allergen immunotherapy to reduce sensitivity over time. Adult immunisation is also an important part of allergy and respiratory preventive care that is often overlooked.
Pulmonary Emergency and Critical Care
My IDCCM certification and clinical experience in intensive care environments means I am equipped to manage patients at the severe end of the respiratory spectrum: respiratory failure, acute severe asthma, ARDS, ventilator-dependent patients, and complex pulmonary emergencies. This critical care background informs my general outpatient practice as well, giving me a deeper understanding of how respiratory conditions progress and when escalation of care is necessary.
