What are the risk and complications associated with treatment?

  • Ovarian Hyper Stimulation Syndrome (OHSS), is a condition wher an exaggerated response is seen of follicular development seen with stimulatory hormonal injections. The ovaries get enlarged and can be painful. There can be fluid accumulation in the tummy/abdomen and lungs causing difficulty in breathing etc 
  • Risk of multiple pregnancy, is approximately 10% in those who have double embryo transfer. With single embryo transfer, the risk remains at 1-3%. 
  • Miscarriages/Threatened abortions
  • Pre-Eclampsia
  • Preterm deliveries
  • Low birth weight or high birth weight babies
