Usually, the result will be ready in 1 or 2 days. Your laboratory would provide a printed copy of the semen analysis report. You can also get a pdf document from your laboratory.

• The laboratory provides you a clean container in which you have to collect the semen.
• The laboratory provides you a private room with wash room facility, close to the laboratory where you can collect your semen. 
  The method of collection is by masturbation. The ejaculate needs to be completely collected, and you should report any loss of any fraction of the sample.
• The start of examination of the sample usually begins in 30 minutes from the time of collection of the sample.
• If anyone, for any reason must collect the ejaculate at another place, the specimen container should be kept close to the body under the clothes – for instance, in the armpit – during transport and should be delivered to the laboratory preferably within 30 minutes after collection and at least no longer than 50 minutes after collection.

Avoid sexual intercourse/ejaculation for a minimum of 2 days and a maximum of 7 days before providing sample for semen analysis.

You can get it done from a standardised andrology laboratory attached to dedicated fertility/andrology clinic or a standardised laboratory with andrology facilities.

You will get the most reliable test from NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories) laboratories.

It is recommended to choose laboratories which provide detailed analysis of macroscopic and microscopic characteristics of your semen rather than laboratories which rely on quicker, cheaper and unstandardised reporting methods
