Allergen immunotherapy works progressively rather than immediately - which is one of the most important things for families to understand before starting treatment, because setting realistic expectations about the timeline prevents early discontinuation of a treatment that will eventually produce significant benefit. The first changes families typically notice are a reduction in the frequency and severity of allergic rhinitis symptoms - less sneezing, less nasal congestion, less morning misery - beginning within the first six months of treatment.
