Frequently Asked Question

Will I need to take vitamins for life after bariatric surgery?

Yes. All patients require lifelong vitamin and mineral supplementation after bariatric surgery, with the specific regimen depending on the procedure. Bypass procedures require more extensive supplementation than sleeve gastrectomy because of the bypassed intestinal segment. Regular blood tests monitor nutritional status and allow the protocol to be adjusted. This is a non-negotiable part of post-bariatric care and is discussed in full before any procedure is planned.
