The significance of holding both an ENT surgical qualification and FAAI is not simply that I can treat two different conditions. It is that I understand how allergy and ENT disease interact at a mechanistic level, which allows me to evaluate patients whose chronic or recurrent ENT symptoms have an allergic component that standard ENT management has not addressed - because standard ENT management rarely includes formal allergy evaluation.
The Rajasthan Context - Why Integrated ENT Allergy Care Matters Here
Ajmer and the surrounding Rajasthan region present a specific allergen environment. Dust - fine, pervasive, and suspended for long periods in the dry air - is the dominant environmental exposure, and house dust mite, cockroach, and airborne mould sensitisation in urban Ajmer are significant. This history is the foundation of a correct diagnosis, and it is the step that most ENT consultations skip. If the history suggests an allergic component, I evaluate it formally. If a patient needs sinus surgery, I ensure the allergy diagnosis is made and treatment is in place before and after the procedure, because surgery without allergy management produces a shorter window of improvement before symptoms return. If a patient's allergy is the primary problem without structural ENT disease, they are candidates for immunotherapy.
