SABR delivers a high ablative dose to a metastatic tumour in one to five outpatient sessions, with no admission and no surgical recovery. Each session takes 30 to 90 minutes. Side effects are site-dependent and generally mild. Liver SABR may cause brief fatigue; lung SABR occasionally produces a transient local reaction. The OLIGOMA trial confirmed that adding SABR to systemic therapy caused no major detrimental effect on patients' quality of life.
