Oligometastatic cancer is a state where cancer has spread beyond its origin but to a limited number of sites, typically five or fewer, and is biologically less aggressive than widespread metastatic disease. Unlike traditional Stage IV cancer managed purely with systemic therapy, oligometastatic cancer can sometimes be treated with curative or long-term disease-control intent using a combination of systemic therapy and targeted local treatment.
