How often should I get my eyes checked if I have diabetes?

If you have diabetes, it is recommended to have a comprehensive eye exam at least once a year. However, if you have signs of diabetic retinopathy, more frequent check-ups may be necessary to monitor progression and begin early treatment if needed.
