Ms Sindhu Prasad Interview 28th June 2026

This interview is mainly to create awareness about issues faced by people with mental illness along with their near and dear ones. Anxiety and depression has become very common and seen increasingly in school children. Many of them face struggles that are not always visible. Getting proper treatment becomes difficult because of various reasons like, shortage of psychologists and psychiatrists, high costs etc. Caregivers too feel tired, worried and sometimes alone in this journey.

However, apart from these practical problems, there’s another big issue — the way society looks at mental illness. Too often, people are judged or treated with fear. Families hide the illness because they worry about what others will say. This prejudice and stigma are the main invisible barriers. They stop people from asking for help, delay the treatment and make the person and their loved ones feel even more isolated.
Mental health is not just about medicines or therapy — it’s also about changing attitudes. If we can break the walls of stigma and prejudice on mental health, we can create a society where asking for help is seen as courage and not a shame. Let’s carry forward the message of empathy, awareness, and action—because every step we take against stigma brings us closer to a healthier, more inclusive society.”
