Recovery after breast lump removal depends on the size and location of the lump and the extent of the operation. After a smaller excision, most patients can return to light activity relatively quickly, with discomfort managed by oral analgesics. You should expect some swelling, bruising, or tightness around the surgical area, which typically settles over the following weeks. Wound care instructions will be provided, including guidance on bathing and activity. Follow-up after surgery is essential and should not be omitted. The histopathology report from the removed tissue needs to be reviewed, and depending on the findings, no further treatment may be needed or additional evaluation may be recommended.
