How many laser sessions are needed for GSM and what does the treatment experience involve?
Most women with genitourinary syndrome of menopause require two to three IntimaLase GSMCare laser sessions to achieve the best sustained improvement in their symptoms. The sessions are spaced four to six weeks apart to allow the tissue's collagen remodelling and regeneration response to develop fully between treatments. Each individual session takes approximately twenty minutes. The treatment is performed in the clinic at Shri Kripalu Hospital, Asef Nagar, Beed. No anaesthesia is required, and most women describe the sensation during the procedure as mild warmth or a gentle pressure. There is no downtime after each session. Women can return to normal daily activities immediately, and there are no restrictions on routine physical activity after treatment. The improvement in symptoms is typically noticed gradually over the weeks following the first and second sessions, as the tissue regeneration progresses. Dryness reduces, lubrication improves, and the burning or discomfort during intimacy diminishes as the mucosal quality is restored. A maintenance session once a year after the initial course is typically recommended to sustain the results, since the underlying hormonal change at menopause is a permanent one and the tissue does not produce its own oestrogen to maintain the regenerated state independently. I discuss the full treatment plan, expected outcomes, and maintenance schedule with every patient at the initial consultation at Shri Kripalu Hospital, Beed.
