Dr. Guhan Venkatakrishnan is an experienced gastrointestinal, hepatopancreatobiliary and liver transplant surgeon associated with Amrita Hospital, Kochi. His international experience includes advanced HPB surgery and liver transplantation training at Royal Free Hospital, London, as well as a fellowship visit to Mie University Hospital, Japan. Dr. Guhan Venkatakrishnan specialises in Gastrointestinal Surgery, Hepatopancreatobiliary Surgery, Liver Transplantation, GI Oncology, Laparoscopic Surgery and Robotic Surgery. His expertise includes both living donor and deceased donor liver transplantation, with experience in transplant explant, bench surgery, organ retrieval and implantation training. He is trained in living donor hepatectomy using open and robotic approaches and has performed multi-organ retrieval procedures involving the liver, kidneys and pancreas in India and the UK. His gastrointestinal and HPB surgical practice covers benign disorders as well as complex cancers involving the liver, pancreas, biliary tract and gastrointestinal system. Advanced minimally invasive surgery is another important component of his practice, including laparoscopic and robotic approaches for appropriately selected patients. His experience in HPB and GI oncology also includes leading multidisciplinary tumour board discussions, enabling coordinated decision-making for patients requiring complex cancer surgery and multidisciplinary treatment planning.
